Dark + Diamond Floral Design is a husband and wife team. Katie and Michael Patton are both multi disciplinary artists living in and working throughout the Hudson Valley. Their design aesthetic is inspired by a love of art and the natural world. Focusing on the ritual and process of creating together, a deep felt poetry is revealed in their work. Drawing from the undeniable magic in nature, they customize each event paying special attention to architecture, environment and season.

Dark + Diamond specializes in custom tailored design and florals for each individual client. Our approach reflects our extensive art and design background and our love for the timeless beauty that flowers can bring into any setting. Our ideal client is someone who trusts us to interpret beauty through thoughtfully curated design. What other time in our lives do we get to celebrate with flowers, reminding us of how delicate and exquisite this life can be! From intimate to grand, we design florals for weddings, events, interior styling + weekly accounts, hand selecting every bloom. We work closely with Hudson Valley farms and wholesalers focusing on locally grown and American grown flowers. As well as importers from all over the world, providing you with the most unique and highest quality product.

What sets us apart from other florists? 21 years of experience working in the floral and wedding industry combined with our comprehensive background in art, sculpture and design. We strive to exceed our clients wildest dreams every. single. time. Understanding the language of flowers, composition, line and gesture makes Dark + Diamond the perfect choice for those who want to create a balance of art, beauty and a curated experience to be immersed in.

We book only a select number of weddings a year so that we can be fully invested in each one. We choose to take on only 2-3 weddings per month which allows us to dedicate all of our creative energy into your event.

Full wedding floral services begin at $15,000. We are also sometimes available for micro weddings and elopements with custom pricing. We work extensively throughout the Hudson Valley, Upstate, the Berkshires, Catskills, Connecticut and are available to travel further.

Earth Day everyday! Dark + Diamond composts all green waste right on our property. We recycle every bit of flower packaging and our studio runs on wind and solar power! During the growing season we buy locally grown blooms from Pennsylvania to Vermont minimizing our carbon footprint and eliminating wasteful plastic packaging. To further our pursuit of sustainability we have also stopped using toxic floral foam which unfortunately has become so common place in the floral industry. We want a beautiful, healthy, living earth for our children.

Katie's background is in fibers/textiles, costume making and millinery. Working with her hands has always come naturally. After exploring a range of mediums in art school, she discovered that flowers combined everything she loved about being an artist. Line, gesture, color and texture suddenly expressed in every single stem. A world of possibilities.
She ran her first floral studio in San Francisco before venturing to the Hudson Valley. There isn’t a day that goes by that she’s not thinking about flowers.
Katie's style reflects her free spirit, poetic conscience and her love for the wild spontaneity in nature.

Michael studied glass and sculpture at the California College of Art. Deeply rooted in process and material, his work conveys a range of sensibility creating intimate sculptures that capture detailed memories and emotion. Michael was born in Detroit, the industrial heartland of America. A city that has it's own unique aesthetic where labor, blood, sweat and rust create a poetic landscape of decrepit beauty. He has always been fascinated by tools, machinery and trains. Katie guided Michael into the mysterious and magical world of flowers. He combines his knowledge of art and design with his love of nature to curate custom events. Michael's style is simple and intentional. Revealed by an unspoken language, his refined aesthetic draws from the power of subtlety. He values the handmade in an ever changing world of technology.
